Amanda: So I guess Tim really has a thing for oxymoron album names. I thought this one was appropriate, though, because this album was really bittersweet.  The songs just felt like they were reminiscing about a different time, so it was not outright depressing.  I particularly enjoyed "Strange Feeling" and "Love From Room 109 At The Islander".  They both had the same mood as movies like The Big Chill or The Deer Hunter; i.e. adjusting yourself from the memories of the past.  Pretty good and even more poignant because of the singer's unfortunate end.

RATING: 4/5

Maybe he has to get over himself just a little bit.

  1. This music is very dreamy, and the song structures too. The perfect music to relax and get away. It creates a special mood with the hypnotic playing and singing, using his voice as a new instrument in a really adventurous way. The jazzy playing on "Love from Room 109" is the highlight for me. Here is the value of a book like this, Tim Buckley could have been forgotten but deserves to be heard.
