979. Destroy Rock and Roll

Destroy Rock and Roll
Mylo
2004

Tracks
1. Valley Of The Dolls
2. Sunworshipper
3. Musclecars
4. Drop The Pressure
5. In My Arms
6. Guilty Of Love
7. Paris Four Hundred
8. Destroy Rock & Roll
9. Rikki
10. Otto's Journey
11. Muscle Car (Reform Reprise)
12. Zenophile
13. Need You Tonite
14. Emotion 98.6

House music is so hard to judge, because if you are just sitting alone in your apartment and listening to it, it's never very interesting. You need to be in a club or festival setting, otherwise it doesn't translate.

Of course, Mylo tries to make it interesting by including jokes and some commentary. I found those bits rather repetitive and obnoxious, but at least it made the album stand out a little.

This was clearly made with minimalism in mind, and for the most part it worked. But this style still isn't my cup of tea.

900. Remedy

Remedy
Basement Jaxx
1999

Tracks
1. Rendez-vu
2. Yo Yo
3. Jump N' Shout
4. U Can't Stop Me
5. Jaxxalude
6. Red Alert
7. Jazzalude
8. Always Be There
9. Sneakalude
10. Same Old Show
11. Bingo Bango
12. Gemilude
13. Stop 4 Love
14. Don't Give Up
15. Being With U

The 900 mark! As you may or may not noticed, I am ready to be done with this project. But we have 101 more to go before that moment arrives, and knowing the List as intimately as I do, 87 of those albums will be electronica. So let's get to it!

House music isn't my cup of tea, but I still moderately enjoyed this. There was enough variation to keep it interesting, with "Always Be There" standing out as my favorite. Even if the interludes were unnecessary. And "Same Old Show" was eye roll worthy.

I also liked how the pulled in Latin influences. Worth listening to.

803. Leftism

Leftism
Leftfield
1995

Tracks
1. Release The Pressure
2. Afro Left
3. Melt
4. Song Of Life
5. Original
6. Black Flute
7. Space Shanty
8. Inspection (Check One)
9. Storm 3000
10. Open Up
11. 21st Century Poem

I listened to this yesterday, but couldn't really think of anything to say about it. It's yet another dance album, which you are obviously meant to experience in a drastically different atmosphere than the one found at my apartment on a Monday night.

It would work better in a club setting, which is now an archaic term that references a place where people could socialize, dance, and imbibe the necessary drugs and alcohol to make this music enjoyable.

I know it's not entirely the band's fault that I didn't enjoy this, but it still felt pretty dated.

666. World Clique

World Clique
Deee-Lite
1990

Tracks
1. Good Beat
2. Power Of Love
3. Try Me On...I'm Very You
4. Smile On
5. What Is Love
6. World Clique
7. ESP
8. Groove Is In The Heart
9. Who Was That
10. Deep Ending

We've reached the devil's entry, which is actually not that devilish at all, but light-hearted and fun. Regardless, we are two-thirds of the way through this journey! It seems like only yesterday that I was...shit, never mind, that was literally a decade ago.

I'm discovering that dance music really isn't my thing and this was no exception. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but it felt dated and didn't leave much of an impression.

Probably skippable, but certainly not the worst thing to appear on this List.

653. What's That Noise?

What's That Noise?
Coldcut
1989

Tracks
1. People Hold On
2. Fat (Party And Bullshit)
3. I'm In Deep
4. My Telephone
5. Reportage
6. Which Doctor
7. Stop This Crazy Thing
8. No Connection
9. Smoke 1
10. Doctorin' The House
11. What's That Noise

I am running a wee bit behind on reviews, mostly for work related reasons. I found time to fit this irritating album in somewhere, which did nothing to improve my mood or stress levels.

I didn't have high hopes for an album that acknowledged it is just noise anyway. I felt like this album had no direction or cohesion to it. I suppose that was the point; they wanted to mix a lot of different sounds and artists, but the result was underwhelming.

Entirely skippable.
