Okay, we really needed this album. Well, I needed it at any rate. I was starting to lose it with the recent stretch of albums. Even the ones that have been of medium quality have been really dreary, or just not my style of music. Then XTC comes along and kisses me back to life.
XTC has clear influences in the Beach Boys and the Beatles. That's not exactly the well other bands of the 90s are drawing from. So XTC is really a refreshing change of pace, even if they are retro in their style. Their lyrics are always smart, funny, and catchy. My favorite tracks were "Green Man" and "I'd Like That" but honestly, they were all good.
This brightened my day considerably. Highly recommended.
