Nearly every album that comes out of Manchester seems to be an imitation of Oasis, but this actually bucks the trend. It's not the most memorable album, but it still was a nice change of pace.
I think they managed to move away from the typical britpop sound by incorporating more rock elements. They were more reminiscent of the Foo Fighters, for example, than Suede. It didn't blow me away, but I enjoyed it.
And there are worse ways to usher in the 2000s.
