After the two hour Smashing Pumpkin album, it was nice to reach an entry that didn't overstay its welcome. This album was full of short, punchy songs that were surprisingly catchy.
It's interesting to listen to this after Green Day's Dookie. Dookie was a more mainstream take on the genre, but Rocket from the Crypt is really uncompromising in its punk sound. Naturally, I like Green Day better, but I still enjoyed this.
Oddly, some songs, like "Used," reminded me of Elvis Costello, and that's always a good thing.
RATING: 3/5
