We've witnessed many unholy unions of styles on this blog, but we've yet to see a concoction of folk and electronica. I knew my fondness for the album would depend on which genre Beth Orton decided to lean into more. Folk for the win!
So I didn't enjoy this quite as much as I was expecting to. Orton has a lovely voice, but it wasn't really enough to engage me in the songs. I think that was because of the electronica presence in the album, which made it sound kind of dated.
An interesting concept that didn't really deliver.
RATING: 3/5
