I wasn't too familiar with Missy Elliot's work. I had heard "Sock It 2 Me" before though, in a movie I don't entirely want to admit having watched. I actually enjoyed this quite a bit, even if the finale was a little awkward.

This is a fun album with fairly odd lyrics. In many ways, she follows the traditional hip hop blueprint for lyrics, where you have to shout that you're the greatest from the rooftops. But she takes enough turns and infuses the album with enough weirdness that it still manages to be interesting.

Still not my favorite style of music because of the artists' reluctance to be truly vulnerable, but entertaining nevertheless.
