So Coldplay is mildly annoying, and are only marginally less self righteous than U2. I just get the sense the main singer is kind of a douchebag, without having a solid basis for that assumption. Their songs just seem like they are written to get women into bed. Which I know is probably why most songs are written, but they are usually less obvious about it.
That being said, I did enjoy this album. It had some really nice hooks and catchy songs. The lyrics were a bit eyeroll worthy at times (ahem "Yellow"). But overall the quality was impressive. I particularly enjoyed "Shiver," which is probably the most recognizable song from the album.
So a good album from an irritating band.
RATING: 4/5
